Hilton Double Tree Nungwi sits in the North of the island of Zanzibar. One of the best value and ZAR friendly destinations in terms of flying into and accommodation, food is expensive in this island, all inclusive options are the way to go and really well priced when negotiated with management / concierge upon check in. I chose to go red arm banded here as all inclusive was not much more than full board.
As usual I met too many a – over paying South African, German and Swedish travellers in the pool who all seemed to have jaw drops when I told them flying in direct was only ZAR 1200 per way and using the HHonors with elite status made it so affordable to stay so much longer plus the upgrade given to me was the biggest and best pad in the resort. This is the TraveLoyalty way after all.
The booking.
I booked just about all three methods available, the first was cash as the sale had the lowest rate for the first few days, then I booked points+ cash rate as rates went through the roof over the weekend and public holidays, thereafter I booked 5nights on points getting the 5th night free as a HHonors elite perk.
The upgrade.
Amazing the best suite in the house ( the only junior suite) was offered to me via the app’s online check-in, I immediately clicked confirmed. Management later told me that they allocated it the day before as per email request sent in. ( read the ultimate guide to upgrades). I’ve sent the screenshots on Instagram.
The Junior Suite.
This suite comes with 2 bathrooms and 2 rooms, one opf which has a sleeper couch. plenty of space especially for families.
A perk that’s exclusive to the IHG chain for Royal Ambassodor members.
Some foodie.
The resort, activities and surroundings.
What I got back after checkout:
Next up: Hilton Double Tree Stonetown and swimming with dolphins.
