Bangkok.
How on earth did I land up here?
Bangkok or Thailand for that matter has never been up on my dreamy destinations list although I visited Thailand everyday numerous times playing Street Fighter 2 as a teen. Another exciting factor was after all Bangkok was 2016’s most visited city!
Indonesia however was high up on my list for a repeat visit, and the only or cheapest way to get in and out of Indo was via BKK using Open Jaw bookings via an OTA.
Looking for a Hotel.
Bangkok has so many brands and even the smaller ones, as my readership may know St. Regis brand has been really kind with generous nay massive upgrades on recent trips so looking in to Bangkok I was amazed to find the St. Regis on promo for just 4500 Thb with extra occupants it only came to 5100 Thb (booking proof link further below), looking around most branded hotels are between 2500 and 5000 Thb which given the mighty Rands exchange rate does not make a dent in any wallet. It all boils down to value, perks and location.
At St. Regis most if not all rooms come with a dedicated butler service 24/7.
Upgrade.
Huge, I asked on check in, I received the top floor top suite named: John Jacob Astor Suite ( Ya”ll may recall his name from Titanic), In KL at St. Regis we got the Caroline Astor Suite as an upgrade, not sure if that’s his wife or mistress post sailing.
The John Jacob Astor Suite’s value per night was 50,000 Thb making this upgrade one of my biggest.
See my Instagram video of the wander HERE.
The John Jacob Astor Suite:
170sqm of space, 2 bedrooms ( 1 king + 2 double) with 3 bathrooms, open plan lounge and dinning room with kitchen + 24/7 Butler service.
Check out how I booked and the value out HERE.
Perks:
The Breakfast.
A’la Carte menu options:
Going out and about.
You can walk up the road to most of the premium malls and directly off the road of the hotel is the train station.
Bangkok I would like to repeat in the near future as there are so many top tier hotels up and coming.
