Hyatt Regency Makkah

A brand spanking new dual tower hotel behind intercontinental and next to Hilton suites. A very convenient address as it avoids the chaos crowds camping outside Abraj Al Bait section and also has quick access to enter the new section and not get locked outside all the time.

The booking.

Peak December rates were SAR 2000 per night for a standard room. Early December had advanced purchase rates of SAR 533 per night.

Points + cash had the best value in booking rate options.

Check in.

As per-normal, elite dedicated check in counters are very fast and que-less.

The upgrade.

Using my Ultimate Guide to UPgrades article, the GM confirmed my upgrade to a Prince Suite via email some days prior. The hotel did not even take one of my 4x confirmed suite upgrade certificates ( which I value at R120,000 each).

SAR 8000 per night is a mammoth upgrade, could be my biggest value one when converted to Zar.

The breakfast.

Recently I have only been highlighting what stands out from the normal buffet one finds at every hotel.

Ice cream for breakfast is a treat. Especially when the rates are SAR 11 per scoop in the shops. That's like 50bux per person per scoop everyone else is paying.

Late check out.

I had a flight out at 7am and booked one night short as I knew Hyatt has 4pm late check out guarantee for Diamonds. That would mean 8 hours waiting until taxi time to Jeddah.

The GM told me I am welcome to check out when ever Im ready, even 2 am ( everyone else checkout time is 10-11am the day before) This was another perk of a whole day in the 8000 SAR per night Prince Suite.

The points I earned from the p+c booking.

Hyatt Regency Makkah’s second tower is due to open soon. Imagine what the presidential suite is going to look like.
