Marriott introduces its new rewards pricing tomorrow. Premium top of range properties go up from 60,000 points to 100,000 points per night in peak. As mentioned previously, one can forward book on ‘credit’ needing the full points a week before check in but do take note some properties have been holding fees for award bookings in the future.
Previously on traveloyalty.com we reviewed The most outrageous, phenomenal and biggest hotel suite in the world at one of the worlds most famous hotels which bring us on to our main topic:
The worlds most sought after – royalty worthy – outrageously exclusive resort.

Hello North Island, Seychelles.
Note: (not to be confused with North Sentinel Island in the Indian ocean..)
——————————————————————————————————————–
Breaking news is that its joining Marriott’s Luxury Collection brand portfolio soon. I presume this has been kept until after the category 8 sets in as the standard cash rates at this exclusive island goes for a whopping Euro 6500 – 10,000 per night ( about Zar 105,000 to 160,000 per night!)
This is the Island you may recall that Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton spent their honeymoon at, so did George + Amal Clooney and other holiday makers included Brad Pitt + Angelina Jolie.
I’ve visited Seychelles 3rd largest island affectionately known as Silhouette island that houses Hilton Labriz a few times, it lies just across North Island and to this day remains the most stunning and intriguing islands I’ve been to of all worldwide. No ways? Hear me out: I know I post plenttyyy of Maldives trips on social media especially surfing and many times including foodie.
However unlike Maldives, Silhouette island has a mountain one can hike over for 3 hours +, you could even get lost and will need a search party to find you hence needing permission to wander into the jungle prior. There are Arabian Pirate graveyards on the other end, legend has it there’s heaps of buried / hidden pirate treasure on this island worth billions of dollars, once myself and family adventured into the wilderness and we found some guests with metal detectors scouting the sand on other sides.
Silhouette Island at most parts has that.. how can I say, Johnny Castaway / Robinson Crusoe type feeling, lost in another world, like you the only humans around and this lasts for hours and hours when you explore, this is really hard to find at other places that holds a world class branded hotel group that one can stay for free at by redeeming points (with vip perks).
Personally after spending heaps of time ( scoring free stopover trips) in the Seychelles I’d say Silhouette Island is way better than the more famous and in demand (+whew crowded) La Digue Island as well as Praslin Island, dont get me wrong I agree that these 2 islands have many of the worlds top 10 beaches but the mere over crowd factor doesn’t tick off all the boxes, kind of the same way crowded Antalya vs exclusive Bodrum in Turkey does.
I would assume North Island although much smaller in size( 10x to be exact) to have a similar feel if not better, there are double the amount of staff as guests on this island that has only 10 Presidential villas and 1 exclusive Villa North Island in the category above (yep this is the 10k one in Euro)
Its all inclusive resort:including mini bar and room snacks that has jars and jars of goodies so lets hope they include it in the award pricing and not ping pong about Al Maha style. Speaking of awards, I’m sure there wont be much availability once it loads given the small amount of accommodation.
Getting there: its a very short helicopter flight from Mahe, I have seen boats service the island as well that should take 55 mins from the jetty in Mahe.
Activities: Everything you could expect on a island from hill top picnics to fishing, this ocean stretch has been my favourite to fish in, I’ve caught heaps of Tuna, Job fish, Snapper and many others. Don’t miss doing this.
Between a rock and a hard place: is where most Marriott Bonvoy Elites will be tonight, book at the premium resorts such as St. Regis Vommuli Maldives or St. Regis New York or Luxury Collection Al Maha UAE?? or keep the points in anticipation for scoring North Island with 5th night free for 400,000 Bonvoy points, thats if they don’t decide to pull a “Waldorf Astoria Maldives” redemption on us…
