My cellphone rang and there I was, inbtween mattress running for triple points at Radisson PE and surf trip I planned a year ago to my old and most favourite hometown of Jeffreys Bay.
Caller: Hello is this Zaheer? Did you enter the Samsung win a trip to Mayweather vs Pacquiao ?
Now, I have been following this match up since 2010. I booked a room with IHG 8minutes after the fight was signed earlier this year only to see the whole strip get sold out and match ticket prices load exorbitantly with super inflated re-sale prices over and over including delays with the distribution. Until that call, the biggest boxing or sporting showdown in history was a mere fantasy for live viewing.
I had 24hours to drive back home, pack and get to the Emirates counter in Johannesburg to make the flight to Los Angeles and connect to Vegas night before the fight. How I love last minute travels, they always seem to play out seamlessly as apposed to advanced pre planed ones.

The Hotel.
Samsung had arranged the Tropicana by Hilton Double Tree, as a Hilton HH Diamond member my fast track perks were amazing on this busy weekend date. Conveniently this hotel is directly across MGM Grand where the fight was taking place.
The Room.
Diamond HH upgrade to a deluxe suite with balcony overlooking pool.
