Tip for scoring in travels:

A common tip I use when travelling is using points for free stays (this way there’s no taxes) on the first night or the last night or both at certain destinations especially airport hotels or hotels that offer a free airport shuttle. Airport hotels are often way cheaper using points even if you had to buy them.

If you into scoring premium hotels or the best hotels in your destination you would know it makes zero sense to check in for your full stay if you arriving at night (and subsequently missing the whole day for premium cash rates or even premium points rates that you would or could have otherwise scored with a early check in), the same goes with early morning flights = early morning check outs, similar procedure, check out your premium hotel late and on to your ‘budget hotel’ check in near airport for next days flight.

Some of my favourite savings I’ve had on low points are Hilton Bali Nagurah Rai for 5000 points, Four Points Sheraton Kenya Airport for 17000 points, heaps of Proteas at 7500 points especially for transits, heaps of all brands throughout USA, Crowne Plaza Changi Singapore for 40k points (heavy I know but the cash rates were even more crazy) and Holiday Inn Mauritius scored for 5000 points on pointbreaks previously, usually only 15000 points per night pictured below.

If you followed my road trip through Florida on Instagram last year, you could fly into Orlando and do Disney and all the rest, Nasa Space Centre, Lego Land, Fort Lauderdale and fly out of Miami and make use of the airport hotel on Pointbreaks for 5000 points.

Channel changing in Mauritius, scored this suite upgrade for just 5000 points as the next days intention would be a early check out and early check in at one of the islands premium hotels for a full day and full stay. Cash or points it doesn’t matter, keep winning.
